7. Chalybeate Spring

The spring that gave Tunbridge Wells its name, Chalybeate Spring, is a must-visit attraction located in The Pantiles. The spring is famous for its iron-rich waters, which were believed to have healing properties.

Lord North declared the waters have medicinal and healing properties, and soon enough, it was widely accepted that taking the water could cure many ailments, ranging from infertility and hangovers to obesity and even “a moist brain.”

Thanks to Lord North, honourable ladies and gentlemen from London and afar travelled to  Tunbridge Wells, and the town became a fashionable retreat for the gentry.
